چکیده
As a heat-triggered smart material, shape memory alloy (SMA) has been widely used in soft actuators and bioinspired robots. Coupled SMA wires are commonly chosen to achieve reversible actuation, while segment assembling methods the main solutions for complicated bending modes. To address this, dual-stimulus responsive SMA/PDMS were proposed this research. exerted by electrical current, showed process, which was beneficial elastic energy storage release effect of PDMS elastomers wrapped around one-way wires. The optimization current intensity thickness could be control amplitude, response time, deformation recovery. This provided actuation manner with only single instead coupled wire arrangements. In addition, photomechanical observed as SMA/PDMA stimulated near-infrared (nIR) light, attributed localized photothermal nIR light illumination. Localized continuous deformations obtained that dependent on width. demonstrated ease stimulus utilized assembling. Two kinds actuator-based grippers grasp different shaped objects. Grasping actions achieved electrically actuated conditions, conformal grasping functions source illuminated. Our show potential applications hands expand robots application areas.

متن کاملSoft Actuators and Robots that Are Resistant to Mechanical Damage
Robots based on rigid structural elements—metallic skeletons, electrical motors, conventional mechanical actuators, and mechanical joints—can be superb at performing tasks that require high precision, rapid movement, or application of high levels of force or power. These “hard” robots are, however, often heavy, costly, and diffi cult (and expensive) to control. [ 1–3 ] Hard robots designed to b...
متن کاملEvolving Soft Robots with Vibration Based Movement
Creating effective designs for soft robots is extremely difficult due to the large number of different possiblities for shape, material properties, and movement mechanisms. Due to the lack of methods to design soft robots, previous research has used evolutionary algorithms to tackle this problem of overwhelming options. A popular technique is to use generative encodings to create designs using ...
متن کاملSoft Components for Soft Robots
Typical robot platforms comprise rigid links with fixed degrees-offreedom, solid blocks of transmission and actuator, and superficial positioning of sensors: they are often optimized for the given design criteria but are unable to execute instantaneous changes to the robot's initial mechanism design. The reallife incidences, however, require robots to face complex situations filled with unprogr...
متن کاملPrecision control of flow rate in microfluidic channels using photoresponsive soft polymer actuators.
A novel approach that allows control of flow in microfluidic channels with unsurpassed performance using light is described. Valve structures have been created using photoresponsive hydrogels based on spiropyran-functionalised pNIPAAm hydrogels photopolymerised around pillar structures within the channels. Valve actuation is controlled from outside the fluidic system using externally located LE...
